During class you will review in each area, take the required written test and demonstrate your skills for the instructor.

Red Cross Babysitting Basics (Ages 11+) - Online Course
Designed primarily for youth ages 11 and older, this online course will prepare students to be better babysitters. Topics include how to provide care for infants and children; how to stay safe; what to do in an emergency; how to choose age-appropriate activities; and how to recognize and handle a variety of behaviors. Students will also learn the basics of starting a babysitting business.
The course consists of six interactive modules featuring video, activities, games and tools babysitters can use to build their knowledge and skills and manage their babysitting business. This course, which includes a final exam at the end, takes about 4 hours to complete. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a printable certificate.

Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (Ages 15+)
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. This program offers Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience.
Prerequisites
1. Be at least 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course.
2. Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest.
• Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards.
Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of
both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed.
• Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs. Then swim 50 yards using front crawl, breast stroke or a combination of both
• Swim goggles may be used.
3. Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:
• Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed.
• Surface dive, feet-first or headfirst, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to
retrieve a 10-pound object.
• Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the
starting point holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so
they are able to get a breath.
• Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (Ages 15+)
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. 3. Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
4. Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:
▪ Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed.

Certification Requirements
Candidates must:
▪ Attend the entire course and participate in all class sessions.
▪ Actively participate in all course activities, including assuming various roles during scenarios.
▪ Demonstrate competency in all required skills.
▪ Pass the final skills scenarios.
▪ Successfully pass final written exams with a minimum grade of 80%. If a participant fails to reach the minimum 80% on the final written exam, a retest is allowed using the other version of the exam, provided that the participant has passed the practical assessment.
▪ Complete all eLearning modules.

Red Cross Lifeguard Re-Certification (Ages 15+)
An abbreviated Lifeguarding course that reviews course content in addition to practice and testing of skills and emergency team response. This class is taught in a blended learning format and the assigned online portion(s) (accessed via mobile desktop or tablet) must be completed prior to each instructor-led session.
To participate in the recertification course participants must possess a Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid (current certification or certification expired by no more than 30 days). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid valid for 2 years.
