The City of Toledo, in partnership with the YMCA of Greater Toledo, celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Wayman Palmer YMCA on September 12, 2023. This ceremony, attended by community leaders, partners, and dignitaries, marks a significant milestone for the Warren-Sherman neighborhood. Established in 1978, the Wayman Palmer YMCA, along with Inez Nash Park, will be transformed into a place for community members to improve the health of their spirits, minds, and bodies.

The new Wayman Palmer YMCA will offer state-of-the-art amenities designed to meet the diverse needs of the community, including:

  • State-of-the-art, family-friendly pool
  • An 8,000-square-foot gym with NCAA-quality wood flooring
  • An expanded fitness center with Peloton® equipment
  • A cutting-edge outdoor splash pad

Additional programs and services will include afterschool activities, youth and adult sports, ‘grab & go’ meals, and a community hub with a full-time director specializing in at-risk youth and families.
